Engaging Globalization
Each semester the Globalization Speakers Series brings an inter-disciplinary array of established and promising scholars, artists, and development practitioners. We have hosted speakers from around the globe (Australia, India, Iran, Kenya, Mexico, Thailand) and from a wide range of institutions (The Globalism Institute, USAID, Columbia, University of Miami-FL, UC-Berkeley, Princeton, Oxford...). On March 23, 2006 we were fortunate to host Kenyan Nobel Laureate Wangari Maathai (at left) who shared with us her message of sustainable development, democracy, and peace.

Conferences, symposia, and study releases further bridge university and community, academics and practice. Patel Center publications such as Florida's Global Frontiers and the Globalization and Sustainable Development grow out of these events.
