School of Global Sustainability Hosts Climate Change Lecture Updated 9/3/2010
On September 15, the School of Global Sustainability will host Real Admiral Neil Morisetti, who will deliver a lecture on the topic of "Climate Change and Energy: 21st Century Global Security Challenges." Patel Center Partners with Small Business Development Center to Offer Alternative Energy Export Seminars to Florida Small Businesses Updated 9/1/2010
The Dr. Kiran C. Patel Center for Global Solutions and the Small Business Development Center at the University of South Florida will present seminars for business owners on how to export goods and services to Latin America, using the Dominican Republic and Panama as case studies. These three-hour seminars will prepare small businesses to expand their business and increase sales to these developing markets. For more information, view the program flyer here.

USF Signs Renewable Energy MOU with Dominican Republic Updated 9/1/2010

Social Movement Governance, the Poor and the New Politics of the Americas Updated 4/27/2010
On February 2-4, 2011, the Patel Center, in partnership with Globalizations and the Comparative Research Programme on Poverty at the University of Bergen, Norway, will present a conference on the topic of Social Movement Governance, the Poor and the New Politics of the Americas. UPDATE: The deadline to submit paper and/or panel abstracts has been extended to June 11, 2010 and authors will be notified no later than July 16, 2010.

The Patel Center's Response to the Crisis in Haiti Updated 3/16/2010
We are pleased to report that the sixteen teachers we hosted from Haiti last summer have survived the earthquake. Many of these teachers’ schools have been devastated and several have lost many of their students to the earthquake. Some have temporarily relocated to the United States and others have relocated within their country. One is seeking admission to USF. These teachers participated in the Democracy and Diversity Workshop funded by the U.S. Department of State and co-hosted by the Patel Center and USF’s College of Education/Department of Secondary Education.

The Patel Center is completing an assessment of the role it can propose to University leadership and the Haitian government. It anticipates that the role will target long-term assistance related to the professional training and development of secondary school teachers. We will keep you updated on how our plans develop.
