Patel Center Introduces Dr. James R. Mihelcic
The Patel Center would like to welcome new USF professor, Dr. James R. Mihelcic. Dr. Mihelcic, formerly of Michigan Technological University, will be joining USF's Civil & Environmental Engineering department.
Dr. Mihelcic has developed community-based projects in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Honduras. He also directs the Masters International Program in Civil & Environmental Engineering in conjuction with the US Peace Corps-- the only program of its kind in the nation.

UNESCO-IHE, The Water Institute
In parternship with the UNESCO-IHE, Institute for Water Education, the Patel Center for Global Solutions hosted a two-day visit for 14 UNESCO students. The students visited various sites around the Tampa Bay region to learn about how the region manages its water resources.

Values and Vulnerabilities - Call for Papers
The Patel Center is proud to be involved in the organization of the Coastal Cities Summit to be held November 2008 in St. Petersburg, FL. As the inaugural conference of the International Ocean Institute - USA and co-sponsored by the city of St. Petersburg. The Summit will focus on the values and vulnerabilities facing coastal communities today. The Summit will bring together public officials, nongovernmental organizations, citizens, and natural and social scientists to consider the values and vulnerabilities of coastal regions around the globe.

International Business Summit
The Florida Network for Global Studies (FNGS) will hold its fifth annual “International Business Summit” on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 on the University of South Florida (USF) campus in the newly constructed Marshall Center. This year’s event is being hosted by the Kiran C. Patel Center for Global Solutions and the International Affairs Office at USF.
